Richard Sackler, et al., Case No: CACE19-018882(07) (Circuit Court of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit in and for Broward County, Florida). The plaintiffs alleged that Walmart pharmacies flooded Florida counties with opioids, causing addiction and overdoses, resulting in an increase in resources and unpaid medical costs from treating uninsured patients.
Following a 51-day trial and 14 days of deliberations, the jury was hung 6-2 in favor of Walmart, and a mistrial was declared. The jury deliberations were the subject of a recent article in The Wall Street Journal, "America's Toxic Divide Reaches the Jury Room".
